Links and Notes

Dan DiDio is confused about Aquaman.

Here's a quick run-down: the original Aquaman, Arthur Orin Curry, is currently "dead" (in the same sense that DC heroes are often dead). Arthur Joseph Curry, who wants to be known as Joseph, is currently playing the part of Aquaman until he can find/restore the original Aquaman. IMHO, Joseph Curry isn't actually Aquaman, he's the Sword of Atlantis. So, whenever DC "brings back" Aquaman, they'll need to address both Joseph's quest and Orin's death. Any restoration that doesn't is crap.

HeroClix Artie Joe

Artie Joe and King Shark are both in the new HeroClix DC expansion set. For gamers, that means you've got a couple more water-based characters to play with. For non-gamers, these make wonderful little statues (and are much cheaper and easier to display than the stuff from DC Direct).

Expansion Booster Boxes

Check out the nice artwork on the expansion booster boxes, which will include Artie Joe. And here's the Artie figure itself:

And you can have King Shark play a villain, if you'd like:

And while you're waiting for the expansion to come out, you can head on over to Scipio's place and print out a nice island map to use as a battleground. Add in some of Scipio's FishClix and you'll be set.

Tad and Links

If you want to know how the Tad Williams signing went, here's my report over on Bloggity. I did ask one spoiler question, which Tad answered, but I'm not going to report that because most of you won't understand the question, and it'll be answered in issue #51 anyway.

Although we talked about Aquaman, I'm spoiler-shy, so we went into no detail. I did get the impression that Orin will remain the focus of the Aquaman legacy as long as Tad is writing the book. It will take awhile to sort out Aquaman and Orin and Arthur Joseph, so don't expect huge changes right away. Tad is working with the story he was bequeathed, and he's going to do justice to it. Tad also wasn't aware that Orin's back-story was going to be told in WWIII, but he'd already been keeping close to Kurt's original plan, so it wasn't as big a problem as it could have been.

And now, some links:

Who's Number One?

My Title Has Been Stolen!

Aquaman Plush from The Toy Factory
By none other than Rob! of the Aquaman Shrine, who only got the nod because he self-described himself as "#1 Aquaman Fan In The World". *sigh* I suppose telling them that there's another Aquaman fan would have been too much for the Entertainment Weekly folks to believe...

I'm almost tempted to start a feud in the pages of the magazine, but I have to admit to myself that Rob has a lot more Aquaman merchandise than I do since I'm far more a scholar than a collector. He's probably spent more on his collection than I have on mine, since I've concentrated on the books and stories over the toys.

Of course, I say that then link to The Toy Factory, whom Rob recently featured on his page, because I REALLY WANT that Aquaman plush doll, but I suspect I'll never find a way to get my hands on one. *sob* First my title, then my toy... *sob*

Moving on, who wants to see this frilled shark show up in an Aquaman adventure someday? Show of hands? Maybe along with that Blue Ringed Octopus, the walking shark, or fuzzy lobster...

Interesting eBay Aquaman stuff I recently found...
