The Aquaman Shrine has news on the Aquaman Hoodie. In short, if enough people pre-order, it will be made.

Friday Aqua-Links

I wish I could get this! I probably wouldn't use it either, but it looks great.

Can you identify the fish? It's pretty scary looking.

I feel sorry for these fish. Strange how people get pets, then mistreat them. Why get pets if you can't take care of them?

Pirates of Somalia seize a yacht, capturing 30 crew members and apparently holding them hostage. Of interest: "The International Maritime Bureau, which tracks piracy, said in its annual report earlier this year that global pirate attacks rose 10 percent in 2007, marking the first increase in three years."

The humbolt squid. More on the show about the squid. Watch it here.

Aqualinks

Aquaman on The Big Bang Theory. That's a show, not his opinion on the universe (sadly).

The Comic Treadmill takes on Adventure Comics 460-463 and Adventure Comics 464-466 (not the high points of Aquaman's career).

Why doesn't DC make cool things like this ruler anymore?

Attack of the killer Jellyfish.

Rogue Waves and Saving Sailors.

Unusual Aquaman Item on eBay

Aquaman Pepsi Cap

I've never seen this particular Aquaman item... although the image of Aquaman used is pretty common. According to the description on eBay, this was made in Argentina in the 1970s. As much as I'd like to have this in my collection, I can't really afford $15 for a bottlecap.

Check out the seller's other items, there are more superhero bottlecaps and some other hero figures (including an Aquaman one).

Inheritance

Inheritance
I suppose I should report on this prose novel by Devin Grayson, as in includes Aquaman. The novel, Inheritance, has gathered some criticism for its rather blatant subtext. It's supposed to be about the relationship of superheroes to their sidekicks... um. Well... read for yourself (profanity warning). And there is more here.

Galley Cat asked what was up.
So I shot off an email to Grayson and asked her how this all happened. She reminded me that as one of the comic book industry's few openly bisexual women creators, she's enjoyed working queer material into her stories throughout her career. "That said, I am also a contract worker when at DC crafting stories with licensed characters," she explained, "and my job at that time is to stick pretty close to previously established interpretations and guidelines, which is a necessary and satisfying aspect of this kind of work. In the licensed publication novels, we have more room, permission, and need than we usually do in the comics to explore character back story and culture." Despite that additional freedom, she's careful to point out that Inheritance is about father/son dynamics, not gay culture. "But are the characters in Inheritance aware of gay culture?" she asks rhetorically. "Sure. And they get to joke about it, just like I, as the narrator, get to joke about it. I'm joking with the reader, the characters are joking with each other."
I may not really enjoy it, but I do plan on getting a copy. If I do, I'll be sure to review it here for Aquaman fans.

Aquaman Stays On Top

The Aquaman Pilot continues to be the top video download on iTunes. I'm wondering if the WB has made back the money spent on the pilot from the downloads? Since we don't have any actual numbers, we'll probably never know.

In other news, you can buy the Superhero Stamps, which feature two Aquaman stamps, at The Postal Store. You can also buy a book of postcards that features all twenty stamps as postage-paid postcards with a large version of the art on the front and a smaller stamp version of the art on the back.

When I bought my (first) set of stamps at the local post office, the clerk noted the words "Chapter One" at the bottom of the page and speculated that there might be more superhero stamps coming in future years.

Johnny Drama Says...

Johnny Drama with Aquaman tickets
"Keep up those requests!"

Go to this page and submit a request for an Aquaman T-shirt from the Entourage show! For the subject line, put "Entourage Aquaman T-Shirt?" and for the content, just request a t-shirt based on the Aquaman movie in the show.

I'll be checking the HBO Entourage Shop regularly and will alert folks if I see an official shirt appear. T-Shirt Watch has a link to what appears to be an unofficial t-shirt, but I'd like to see a legit one, personally.

So let's start a wave. Write in and ask for it.

Aquaman PJs in Superman Returns

I have not seen Superman Returns yet. I intend to see it once it's out on DVD. I hate going to movie theaters, so I save that "experience" for movies on my must-see-immediately list.

However, the news that there was an Aquaman reference in Superman Returns meant that it went a little higher on my list of DVDs to check out. Amusingly, someone thought it was important that I see at least images of the PJs even sooner than I see the movie itself. Many thanks to Steve for these images (and no, I'm not going to ask where he got them).

Aquaman PJs 1
Aquaman PJs 2
Aquaman PJs 3

Out of curiousity, for those who have actually seen the film, is this the best that the PJs showed up? I'm sure it was better on the big screen, but did the kid sit up or something so we got a better look at the design?

Peter David Wants Aquaman PJs

In a spoiler-filled post about Superman Returns, Peter David admits that he "loved the Aquaman pajamas, which had nothing to do with anything, but I want me a pair."

I haven't seen the movie yet, and probably won't for awhile. I'm also curious to see if it can beat Aquaman's fictional opening.

I'll be checking the HBO Entourage Shop regularly, but I would so buy an Aquaman T-shirt with that design on it.

So let's start a wave. Write in and ask for it.

Aquaman Dunk

Aquaman Dunk by David3558

David3558 posted a link to this shoe creation over in the website comments. He used the Sneaker Templates at Pigmag.com to create a shoe based on Aquaman's colors. I like it! I would wear it... yeah, even though it wouldn't go with any clothing I own.

Entourage Listing

Entourage
HBO
Series/Comedy, 30 Mins.

Jun 11 - 10:00pm

"Aquamom" Episode #23.
When Vince's plan for the premiere of "Aquaman" fails, Eric comes up with a new plan. Adult Situations; Language.

Cast: Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Jeremy Piven.
Producer(s): Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Doug Ellin, Larry Charles.
This is the continuation of last year's plotline involving Vince getting the part in an Aquaman movie. That season is out on DVD with today as a release date, so you can catch up before watching the new episodes. You can also buy the first season on DVD, but as far as I know there is no Aquaman content on it (feel free to correct me if you know otherwise).
