The epic, full-length conclusion to "Throne of Atlantis" hits as Aquaman and the League make a sinister discovery that changes both the outcome of the war and the future of the Justice League! What is The Grid - and what does it mean to expanding the Justice League?

Synopsis

Aquaman and the Justice League end the war, but Aquaman must become king again.

Summary

Arriving at the satellite, Aquaman blames himself for Vulko starting the war. The entire group goes to fight Orm, who is battling both the Trench and the Justice League reserves in Boston. As Orm is about to set off his bombs that will sink the city, Aquaman and his allies arrive.

Aquaman tells Orm that Vulko is behind the war and tries to get Orm to call off the Atlantean troops. Orm refuses, and the two battle. Atom disables one of Orm's bombs while Superman tosses the other into the sky, where it explodes. Orm tries to sink the city with his crown, but Mera stops the water and Zatanna freezes it. Aquaman defeats Orm and forces him to yield, taking the crown.

Vulko surrenders, then gives the scepter to Aquaman, saying that Atlantis requires Aquaman's leadership. Aquaman nearly lets the Trench eat Vulko, but instead sends them back into the ocean and has Vulko arrested. He turns Orm over to the surfacer authorities, much to Orm's terror.

Orm is sent to Belle Reve, while Aquaman reluctantly goes to take control in Atlantis. Mera refuses to go with him. The Justice League decides to open up recruitment.

Comments

Orm tells Aquaman that he took the throne so he could rescue Arthur from the surface world. In an earlier issue, Vulko said he thought Orm had killed his mother to take the throne. That makes the whole thing even more creepy.

Vulko enjoyed the show, watching Aquaman and Orm fight it out. He had no doubt of the winner and surrendered immediately upon being found by Batman.

Atom was quietly working away while everyone else was battling, disabling the bomb and trying to keep Hawkman alive. Zatanna also came in at a good moment to help Mera stop Orm from swamping Boston.

Dr. Shin, finally vindicated, refused to talk with the press. I'm sure he never wanted that sort of vindication anyway. Plus, Vulko beat him up. Shin's probably sick of getting pounded by now.
