Who destroyed Atlantis? In the start of a new storyline, we follow the hunter as he stalks and kills his prey, claiming their weapons and armor as trophies. A golden shield, a golden helm... and the final prize is the most powerful of all: a golden trident. The only problem is, he's going to have to go through Aquaman to get it. Who is he? What is the secret of Aquaman's trident? And how does this all tie into the destruction of Atlantis?
Synopsis
Aquaman goes to get Dr. Shin's help in interpreting the Atlantean distress signal, but is interrupted by news of an old friend's death.
Summary
Kahina the Seer flees from Black Manta in a Brazilian jungle, but he catches up to her and kills her, taking from her an artifact.
Aquaman and Mera saves ships from a massive storm before heading to Dr. Shin's home. At Shin's home, Aquaman presents him with the evidence of Atlantis being sunk. While they start to review the message, Shin is attacked by Ya'wara, who thinks Shin must have led Manta to Kahina.
Mera stops Ya'wara from killing Shin, then Aquaman stops the fight. Ya'wara tells Aquaman what happened, but Mera wants to know what's is going on.
Comments
This issue features a 1:25 B&W variant wraparound cover.
Among the clippings that Dr. Shin has is a book on Atlantis by David Graves.
A television broadcast at Shin's place informs the readers that Mera is wanted for questioning in the attack on the grocery store manager. Shin also gets a mysterious phone call that cuts out just before Aquaman arrives.
The storm is expected to be one of the worst ever to hit New England, according to the news broadcast, but Shin is still hanging out at his waterfront home.
Aquaman tells Shin that he killed the Trench, but Shin dismisses Aquaman's guilt, noting that they've survived for a long time before Aquaman came along.
Aquaman's trident glows just before Ya'wara arrives through a portal and attacks Shin.
Ya'wara identifies the artifact that Manta took from Kahina as the Golden Seal.
The final splash page shows The Others: Ya'wara, P.O.W., the Operative, Vostok-X, Kahina the Seer, and Aquaman. It also apparently shows the Atlantean artifacts each of them hold.
Next: Who are The Others?
Characters: Kahina the Seer, Black Manta, Dr. Shin, Ya'wara
Locations: A jungle in Brazil, Dr. Shin's home
