This version of Aquaman is no longer a father, no longer a husband, no longer a king. He has to deal with his new circumstances and become something else. For a time he becomes the Atlantean ambassador to the UN, but other problems interfere with his efforts. Eventually, Vulko gives him a copy of the Atlantis Chronicles to read and he becomes aware of his own history and the mystical forces that are constraining his life.
