Aquaman and Mera are reminiscing about Aquaman's childhood when a man claiming to be the sheriff of Beachrock. He tells them monsters have attacked the town, and asks for help finding the people of the town, who have vanished. | |||
When the trio arrive at Beachrock they learn that the man who asked for their help is the deputy, but Aquaman tries to help anyway. He discovers that no sea life is in the area and when divers remove a cocoon from the water, he realizes that the monsters are still around. The Trench attack to recover their cocoon. Aquaman and Mera try to fight off the Trench and protect the first responders from the attack. Aquaman faces off against the leader of the monsters. | |||

When the Trench attack a town, Aquaman and Mera are asked to help find out where the people have gone.
Summary
The Trench, the beings from the ocean floor, kill the three surviving fishermen then notice the lights of the nearby shore.
Aquaman and Mera are reminiscing about Aquaman's childhood when a man claiming to be the sheriff of Beachrock. He tells them monsters have attacked the town, and asks for help finding the people of the town, who have vanished.
