Synopsis

Aquaman takes back Atlantis from the Dead King, freeing his people.

Summary

Aquaman and Vulko retrieve the Atlantean Scepter, then travel to the trench to get some allies.

The Dead King has had Nereus searching for the lost kingdoms of Atlantis, but Nereus cannot find them. Mera is a prisoner, as are most Atlanteans. Then Aquaman arrives, leading the Trench, and frees Mera. Aquaman opens the prisons as well, freeing Tula, Swatt and Murk, who evidently returned to try to help. Then Aquaman faces off against the Dead King.

The two have an epic battle, including Aquaman stopping the Dead King from destroying the city again with the scepter, although it does manage to crack the ocean floor. Aquaman forces the Dead King into one of the fiery cracks and melts the scepter along with the Dead King.

Nereus and his men flee Atlantis and Aquaman takes over again as king. Mera at first refuses to stay, then decides she loves Arthur too much to abandon him.

Meanwhile, outside of Belle Reve, Orm is living a comfortable surfacer life when Nereus finds him and insists he come to gather the seven kings of Atlantis to rule the world.
