"Where's Jackie Chan When Ya Need Him?" Award to Aquaman #31
Aquaman "Shark Bait": The Shark has evolved a whole bunch of sharks, Cron One-Eye included, to be his army, and is out to kill Aquaman in return for the Japanese silently agreeing to end their fishing practices against dolphins, sharks and whales. And, as a telepath, he's prepared to cut a deal with Poseidonis as well.
Meanwhile, Aquaman's all scaly and slightly greenish, and is worried that Kordax's heritage may be coming to the fore in him. Dolphin is more than worried, and doesn't follow him when he leaves the company of the Sea Devils. When he arrives to see Poseidonis sunk into the water, he's immediately suspicious, especially when a bunch of humanoid sharks come to meet and eat him. Still, they're no smarter than your average shark, and he gets past them pretty easily. Harder to deal with is their master, The Shark. But he finds his forces too much slaves to their instincts to effectively fight Aquaman (he cuts on and the rest chase after the transformed whale shark), and when it comes down to a fight of mental power, he's more than a little surprised to find Aquaman's gotten a lot better at it lately. He wins the battle, devolving the Shark to nonhumanoid form, but loses the war, turning into a near copy of Kordax physically. And with Kordax's voice in his mental ear, how long before he changes fully into his ancestor? Guess suicide was only a tactical regrouping for Kordax, eh?
