Aquaman "In Darkness He Waits": It's mega-arc time again, as Black Manta and Aquaman enter the domain of a primeval sea creature or even demigod, which has waited at the sea floor for his companions to return. They never did return, but adapted to life above. Its telepathic sendings get both Black Manta and Arthur, and they get visions of some variant of the creation myth which this entity either believes in or participated in.

Black Manta tries to possess the creature's power, and is devoured. Then the creature tries to be friends with Aquaman and convince him to stay forever, but he breaks free in a titanic mental effort...an effort which once again reverts him to the form which Dolphin got a glimpse of earlier. This time it's Deep Blue who gets to look on in shock at a transformed Arthur that we can't quite see...but we can see enough.

Like ancestor, like descendant. Arthur's becoming like Kordax, all green and scaly, as can be seen on his hand that's in the light. The art is also very cagey about showing his left hand, so it may have just grown back.
