Aquaman #16: I like the art, and the story, while moving in a direction I'm not sure I wanna go, it pretty well told. Mildly recommended. $1.75/$2.50Cn

"She May Have Thighs As Big As Her Waist, But At Least She's Getting SOME Respect" Award to Wonder Woman in Aquaman #16

"As Sane As The Next Madman"

Cover of Aquaman #16

Aquaman "Kings": After a bit of a frank chat with Kelt (a dolphin), Dolphin goes to find Arthur atop the dome like in his dream. Except, in his dream there were people still there, and he still had his hand. Something mucked up his destiny. Something named Koryak. Presumably, without Koryak's involvement, Arthur would have accepted a prosthetic hand sooner, and the people of Atlantis wouldn't have had another charismatic leader to follow out of the city.

Speaking of Koryak, he goes up against ancestor Kordax and loses pretty darn fast. Kordax quickly subdues all opposition and starts building his new follower base.

Back at Atlantis, JLA has arrived and are debating how to deal with the threats from "Aquaman." For some reason, and probably in defiance of his own continuity, J'onn's along with the League. Arthur lets them in, dressed in a more regal version of his old duds and wearing a fake hand (no doubt made by the cityship for him). He plays it as sane as he can, trying to convince the League to butt out. The Obsidian tries to check out the place and gets zapped, starting a fight scene. Wonder Woman punches first Arthur and then Dolphin out into the street, but before she can end the fight Arthur starts to flood the city. The League is forced to retreat before they get stuck inside, and decide to let it go.

Now all Arthur has to do is find the lost cities and prepare a defense against the alien race which spawned the Atlanteans. Um.... Getting a bit cosmic, yes?
