OVERVIEW

The heroes, and Bart, throw a surprise party for Max Mercury to celebrate his last-minute victory over death.

COMMENTS

Ok, this issue isn't all that special at first, just another appearance of the Justice League, Justice Society, and all, right up until page ten. See, the surprise party has all these heroes, and Bart is bringing some friends from school who don't know he's a hero, too. So when Bart arrives, gets a quick look at the costumes before bringing his friends in, the heroes must quickly change to keep from giving away Bart's secret identity. And at that point, the REAL amusing joke of the issue happens.

Zatanna is called upon to use magic to change their uniforms to civilian clothes, but she's been drinking way too much soder cola, and when she makes a first attempt, she switches the uniforms around instead of changing them to civilian clothes. So suddenly, Aquaman is wearing Jesse Quick's uniform, and Wonder Woman is wearing Aquaman's... harness. It's rather amusing... ok, laugh out loud funny.

After they've changed from those into regular clothes, Bart wanders around introducing his friends to his various "aunts", "uncles", and "cousins". Bart runs into a further problem when introducing "Uncle Arthur" as he's got this very distinctive golden hand, which Bart uses his super-speed to put a vase on it to disguise it. Aquaman isn't too happy about this addition, but he doesn't abuse the kid in front of his friends.

CONCLUSION

A nice funny cameo for Aquaman.
