			Vulko retells how Atlanna and Tom Curry met, then tells Aquaman that he discovered a dark secret about the kings of Atlantis that he hoped would never come to light. He tells Aquaman that they are in Antarctica, where the Dead King arose. Vulko takes Aquaman to the Dead King's tomb, where sitting on the throne will give a history of the events. Aquaman sits.

			The Dead King, Atlan, was the ruler of Atlantis but made the mistake of trying to unite the people of Atlantis with others. A group of Atlanteans, including the king's brother Orin, didn't like the trend. Orin took the throne, betraying Atlan, and killed Atlan's wife and children. Using the knowledge of some of the outsiders, Atlan forged the weapons that he then used to sink Atlantis. The survivors of the seven kingdoms included the Trench and Mera's people.

			As Aquaman comes out of the history, he asks Vulko what he's seen. Vulko says it's the truth. Aquaman's ancestors were the villains, and they won.

			The guardians of the Dead King's throne apparently represent the seven different groups of Atlanteans. The one on the far left as Aquaman enters looks like the Fisherman. The Trench are fifth from the left. An insectoid is next to the Trench.

	Locations:		The Dead King is identified as Atlan, while his treacherous brother is Orin. This is a departure from the Atlantis Chronicles, which only clarifies further that the New52 is not the same as the classic DC Universe or even the Post-Crisis DCU. This is its own universe with completely different origins.

			Atlan left Atlantis for many years after his family was killed, then returned and took revenge on his brother. Of note, his brother's wife had blonde hair, as did Orin himself.
