Links and Notes

Dan DiDio is confused about Aquaman.

Here's a quick run-down: the original Aquaman, Arthur Orin Curry, is currently "dead" (in the same sense that DC heroes are often dead). Arthur Joseph Curry, who wants to be known as Joseph, is currently playing the part of Aquaman until he can find/restore the original Aquaman. IMHO, Joseph Curry isn't actually Aquaman, he's the Sword of Atlantis. So, whenever DC "brings back" Aquaman, they'll need to address both Joseph's quest and Orin's death. Any restoration that doesn't is crap.

Tad and Links

If you want to know how the Tad Williams signing went, here's my report over on Bloggity. I did ask one spoiler question, which Tad answered, but I'm not going to report that because most of you won't understand the question, and it'll be answered in issue #51 anyway.

Although we talked about Aquaman, I'm spoiler-shy, so we went into no detail. I did get the impression that Orin will remain the focus of the Aquaman legacy as long as Tad is writing the book. It will take awhile to sort out Aquaman and Orin and Arthur Joseph, so don't expect huge changes right away. Tad is working with the story he was bequeathed, and he's going to do justice to it. Tad also wasn't aware that Orin's back-story was going to be told in WWIII, but he'd already been keeping close to Kurt's original plan, so it wasn't as big a problem as it could have been.

And now, some links:

More pictures from Toy Fair.

Japan has found more strange sea creatures and videotaped them, of course. Check out the squid that blinds its prey. Yikes. Don't miss the quicktime video of the squid in action.

More from that first link, SHARK vs OCTOPUS!

Speaking of Seattle, Dolphins and Sea Lions to patrol Puget Sound. Wasn't there an Aquaman tale about this once?

Aquaman Artwork!

I can hardly call Rob's fantastic images "sketches". What I get are sketches. Rob gets artwork. Check out Romana and Nick, Dan Brereton, Leonard Kirk, Steve Lieber, Steve Scott, Mike Norton, and a last one for the week by Ramona Fradon. Fantastic sketches, Rob!!!

In the meantime, Scipio continues to make Heroclix better with a Feat Card for Aquaman.

Scipio at The Absorbascon has created an army of FishClix to use with your heroclix Aquaman figures. You can actually play Aquaman as Aquaman, and not just a generic hero.

The Aquaman Shrine has been doing a "Dear Santa Week", and I just want to say that I want everything Rob wants, too:DROOL. If some really rich Santa would just give Rob and I our perfect Aqua-Christmas... *sigh*

The Aquaman Shrine

The Aquaman Shrine is a new site dedicated to Aquaman merchandise. I hope to see a lot of stuff I've never seen before over the next couple of years as Rob posts images of his Aquaman collection.
