Aquaman "Devil's Deep": This issue picks up on the plot introduced in a couple pages last time, with the giant sea monster thing. It was found at the edge of an unnaturally deep trench (and I mean unnatural! No real trench that deep and that steeply-sloped would have lasted more than a few years before filling in with crumbled bits from the edges) which moments after we join Arthur and the Sea Devils spews forth another monster.

The monster captures Deep Blue despite everyone's best efforts, and takes off with her, but not before she's tagged with a tracking beacon. Er, presuming it's not based on sound (since it would have been instantly discovered by any number of undersea creatures), what is it based on? No radio underwater, don'tchaknow.

Well, it's an unnecessary plot device anyway, since it's obvious Deep Blue was taken "down" and Black Manta meets Arthur at the entrance to his side-cave anyway. Speaking of unnecessary plot devices, the time is taken to outfit Dolphin with infrared goggles (which, er, wouldn't work anyway) and she ends up staying behind when the depth gets too great for her.

The second half of the issue is a fight scene between Black Manta in his new post-Neron form and Arthur in his new post-Piranha form. And assorted denizens of the hellish deep. It ends with both being dragged down even deeper by the corpse of one of the critters. Crumple.
